After school conglomeration

Acrylic on canvas

My love for this work stemmed from the photo reference I took in Mushin metropolis, Lagos, Nigeria. I was encapsulated by the after school gathering of these lasses clad in their blue school uniform. I took a couple of shots from the commercial tricycle I boarded. I compiled these shots, sorting out the figures I needed and others I reserved for another subject.
Initially I planned using a monochromatic scheme for the painting, this was however changed due to my estatic love for colors. The use of red directly behind the head of the figures was to create an illusion of the secrecy and the danger in girls' after school gossip. Where secrets are made known and scandals are unleashed.
I could not resist the blue scheme of their uniform and reflection of light of the chest of the lass by the right. I just had to represent it, and that eventually succeeded as my fuccal point.
